Stray dog on track causes red flag in FP1

Five minutes into the first practice session, on the opening day of the Indian GP weekend, the red flag was deployed as a stray dog bounded on to the brand new Buddh International Circuit and delayed the first ever practice session at F1′s latest venue.

The black dog caused a five minute delay until it was chased down by officials at the smog-affected venue. In 2008 in Turkey, Bruno Senna struck and killed a dog at speed with his GP2 car, damaging his suspension.

BBC reporter Ted Kravitz predicted: “I fear that this dog on track is something that we will see a lot this weekend. There was a dog on the home straight before the session started and Sebastian Vettel came out to look at it.”
